What's a State in the US with nice weather year round?

I'm going to write a story but I don't know where it should take place. I want it to be relatively warm but not like 'sunny every day' weather. No Hawaii or Florida junk (not that they're bad :]) I just want an average state that's not gloomy or rainy or snowy all the time. In the story, Christmas day will have no snow on the ground. I was trying to research but I found nothing. I like the sound of New Mexico, North Dakota, Michigan, and New Hampshire but I have no idea what the weather is like there. Please help me find a state with like 50-60 degree weather (farenheit).
