Do you read aloud to your kids who can already read to themselves?
I'm thinking primarily of elementary-aged kids who are perfectly capable of reading a chapter book on their own. I still read aloud to my 7- and 9-year-olds who are strong readers, and have found that it's something we all really enjoy and that it's a good chance to stretch their comprehension with harder books than they'd choose for themselves and to have discussions about themes that are relevant to their lives that come up in the books. But I'm wondering if that's typical or if most parents stop reading aloud when their kids are strong readers?
